About Us
The beginnings
In 1991, while still studying mechanical engineering (TU Munich), Kersten-Andreas Müller founded the IT system house as a sole proprietorship at its current location in Deisenhofen (Munich district).
The first customers were primarily architectural firms with specific, high-performance requirements for operating their CAD stations and plotters. Through recommendations, the customer base quickly grew and soon included many companies, as well as their employees and management teams.
The company, still managed by its owner, was converted into a GmbH in January 1996 and Computertechnik Müller became
Sequoia
Computer GmbH.
Today
As a regional IT systems house in Munich, we offer small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) all the services they need to plan, build, and operate a high-performance IT infrastructure. Whether you're looking for a partner for projects or an IT service provider as an external IT department, we support you with our entire portfolio.

The still owner-managed company was converted into a GmbH (limited liability company) in January 1996, and Computertechnik Müller becamee Sequoia Computer GmbH.

The 5 most interesting facts about Sequoia giant sequoias
How we came up with our unusual name Sequoia
The eponymous giant sequoia trees are found in the famous Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks (USA) and also occasionally in Germany, for example on the island of Mainau on Lake Constance.
Admittedly, there are trees that are more visually pleasing. For us, as a purely Bavarian company, this name is more than unusual. However, the Sequoia tree impresses with its unique characteristics, making it one of the most unusual living things in existence, and also connecting us to it.

How tall can a giant sequoia grow?
It can reach heights of up to 95 meters. The most famous of its kind is the so-called "General Sherman Tree" (in Sequoia National Park, USA), which, with a trunk volume of over 1,400 cubic meters, is the largest living tree on Earth.

Mammoth size and age
The evergreen tree can live for over 3,200 years, making it one of the oldest living things on Earth. The oldest sequoia tree has thus lived through the incredible period from 1000 BC to the present day! Between 65 and 110 million years ago, these giant trees were widespread, and giant sequoia forests covered a large part of the earth. They remained widespread until the time of the Great Gold Rush (from around 1800), but were then, unfortunately, ruthlessly deforested.

Sounds paradoxical: A tree that survives forest fires particularly well?
It not only survives forest fires—it actually needs them. Because it exhibits enormous mass growth but grows slowly in height, neighboring plants quickly deprive it of sunlight. After a fire, only the giant remains, and it has enough sunlight to continue its remarkable growth.

What dangers are there for those who even survive fires?
Giant sequoias are rarely toppled alive by storms, but sometimes die from fungal diseases. Because of their height, older trees are more likely to be struck by lightning. They also lose branches due to snow breakage. Younger trees, which have not yet developed thick, protective bark, are more vulnerable to wildfires.

The giant sequoia can reach a trunk circumference of over 34 meters at its very wide base. It takes about 21 people to grasp the tree trunk together!
